Simone de Gale Architects as part of West London Link Design has organised a competition supported by HammersmithLondon Business Improvement District, to build on the success of the group’s Hammersmith Flyunder project, first showcased at the 2012 London Festival of Architecture. The group’s Hammersmith Flyunder Project is now on the cusp of becoming a very real infrastructure scheme after receiving public support from Transport for London, the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
With that in mind, the group have asked students from the University of Westminster and Uxbridge to collaborate with four local Hammersmith schools to create an image of Hammersmith without the flyover that could improve links to the river and completely transfigure the town centre, to explore the possibilities it can achieve, and how they could alter Hammersmith for the better for this year’s London Festival of Architecture (LFA). These could be in the form of drawings, paintings or models.
The ideas will be displayed in Lyric Square on Tuesday, June 24 and Saturday, June 28 and is open to the public as part of London Festival of Architecture 2014. This is one of many events being held as part of the London Festival of Architecture, which runs from 1-30 June www.londonfestivalofarchitecture.org[accordion]
